Gail Stoops' work is well known throughout the country, as well as Northwest Arkansas. There, her paintings hang in three retirement centers, two medical complexes, and many homes and offices throughout the area. She works in watercolor, acrylics and oils... "Whatever medium it takes to reproduce the image in my mind," she says. Gail's journey into art began in 1986 when her son Greg made her promise to start painting. When he was killed a few days later, that promise drove her to pursue a long, serious study of art. On her journey, Gail studied with many teachers across the country. She says, "The best training of all is painting every day, listening to your heart, and painting what you feel." One of her best known series of work in the Northwest Arkansas area is the "Healers and Angels" group of paintings. Also well received is the large collage collection of abstract layered paintings called "Assemblage of Spirit". Gail's work has been exhibited in single-artist shows as well as public and private exhibitions in Mexico and the U.S. Her work hangs in collections in Canada, Mexico, England, and here in the United States. Gail's work is currently shown at Art Emporium in Fayetteville, AR, and is on display at the Walton Arts Center through November 2005. Contact Gail |
